I’m Diego Tejada Cardenas — an economist by training, a senior analytics engineer by trade.
I studied economics, finance, and philosophy in Toronto, then spent years as the only data person at a mid-sized manufacturer, building an analytics platform from nothing: pipelines, warehouse, models, dashboards, and lately AI systems that draft the reporting while I keep the final word.
This site is where I do the other half of the job: theorizing. The thesis holding it together is statistical imagination applied to the unmeasurable — taking fuzzy, moralized, or “soft” concepts (politeness, pride, hate, scarcity) and making them measurable, with the methodology visible on the page. Some pieces are heavyweight essays; some are lab notes. The mix is deliberate.
Off the page: Real Madrid, piano, strategy games, running, and two dogs who supervise all of it.
The best way to argue with me is LinkedIn.
